Fashioning Political Actors: an exploration of political agency and sustainable fashion
Research exploring the intersection of fashion, politics and sustainability. This interdisciplinary project focuses on moving beyond individualism to enable collective political action for social and environmental justice.
Getting dressed is a political act; it also profoundly affects sustainability futures. This PhD research uses Critical Theory to inform approaches to fashion and ecological change. The work employs a variety of methods including autoethnography and design thinking. It draws upon skills of communication, critical questioning, playfulness, openness, direct action, care and political campaigning which I have developed in a portfolio career in two continents.
