Markers of Sustainability: Respectful Engagement Between Designer and Vietnamese Artisans in Production of Hybrid-cultural Products
This research project is practice-based and will investigate how socio-cultural, environmental and economic factors can stimulate and lead business and design decisions.
The research project will explore the need for the role of designer to change to become one that is empathic, reflective, collaborative, can act as a cultural interpreter and be a mediator between indigenous cultures and consumer driven economies. It will contribute to the wider debate around sustainable fashion, the urgent need for systematic change within society and the economy and the role of culture in sustainable development.
